Hour Lavy who is one of famous singer was born in 1948 in Kampong Cham province’s Kampong Siem district. His parents were construction workers. He was oldest son over the family. Because his family was very poor, he worked at Khmer noodle shop as dish washer in order to make small money to make a living and support his family. He has started his singing career since 1963. At that time he sang at bars and restaurants in Kampong Cham province and then he moved to Phnom Penh in 1970. Songs that were composed made him popular such as “Bong Som Srolanh Phong”, “Skeal Te Kleun Menban Khluon”, “Kesor”, “Aneth Meas Bong”, “Pi Mat Yang Khlei”, and so on. He got married to first wife in 1967 and split in 1988. Secondly, he got married in 1990. So far, he has 7 kids (4 daughters and 3 sons). Two of his kids are following his footstep.. In 1971, he left for Battambang province with his family. From 1975-79, he and his family were evacuated to Rong Village in Battambang province. After the topple of Khmer rouge regime in 1979, he restarted continue his career in Battambang province. And then he left for Phnom Penh in 1982. Until now, he sang more than 400 songs, which 100 songs were composed by himself. At the present, he is working with music band of Ministry of Interior and he has also sung at restaurants at night and he is trainer at Dara Meas Club.
